Description

“Way Out West In Jersey” is a duet for soprano and tenor sung in  the 1922 Orange Blossoms. Lyrics are by a brand new lyricist at the beginning of his career. B. G. de Sylva. The young man would carve  out a huge career as Buddy Desylva, both as a song writer and as a co-founder of Capitol Records with Johnny Mercer. Those of you in the New York City area should check the upcoming events calendar later in this newsletter for details as to ow to attend this production in the Fall.  It’s a very funny song for the only two Americans in this production set in France. They decide by the end of the plot to get married and live – you guessed it in Jersey. The melody is in the key of C major with a range from middle C to the D in the octave above.
