There are two types of librettos in this area: Photocopied and Clean Typed. Photocopied materials are from the original material and is often tough to read. Should you be purchasing an original libretto so you can work on improving it yourself, it will need to be typed again and rough guesses made on some pages. These are out of copyright and in the Public Domain. So you are free to alter them as you wish. This is the first time the general public has access to original librettos for the theatrical works of Victor Herbert. They were created by various authors including Harry Bache Smith, Henry Blossom, Rida Johnson Young, Fred DeGresac and numerous others. Public Domain photocopy of 1909 Rose of Algeria Libretto also by Glen McDonough (Babes librettist) produced September 20, 1909 at the Herald Square Theatre in NYC. This is fundamentally the same operetta as the 1908 Algeria. It is roughly 20 pages shorter. It had roughly the same amount of success with 40 perfs.Rose of Algeria
