There are two types of librettos in this area: Photocopied and Clean Typed. Photocopied materials are from the original material and is often tough to read. Should you be purchasing an original libretto so you can work on improving it yourself, it will need to be typed again and rough guesses made on some pages. These are out of copyright and in the Public Domain. So you are free to alter them as you wish. This is the first time the general public has access to original librettos for the theatrical works of Victor Herbert. They were created by various authors including Harry Bache Smith, Henry Blossom, Rida Johnson Young, Fred DeGresac and numerous others. Public Domain – Here is a photocopy of the 1906 original libretto for the Dream City portion of Dream City and The Magic Knight. The Magic Knight is the 25 minute opera spoof of Lohengrin which originally was embedded in the second act of Dream City. Written by Edgar Smith, both pieces are satirical looks at the the modern city and all its cultural aspects. The Magic Knight exists only in piano/vocal form at this time.
