Spend an intimate evening sampling Herbert’s operetta classics, including Babes in Toyland, Naughty Marietta, and moments from the Ziegfield Follies. The program includes the first performance (with guest cellist Amit Peled) of Victor Herbert's Cello Concerto No. 2. Composer/conductor/cellist Herbert served as associate conductor of the Festival from 1889-1892.
The Nordwest Deutsche Philharmonic has over the course of the last sixty years fulfilled an active role within the concert life of northwestern Germany as important cultural ambassadors for the region, throughout Europe and internationally. The past three years under Music Director Andris Nelsons marked a rich artistic period in the history and musical development of the orchestra, which has gained its national and international reputation from notable concerts in Germany and abroad. Beginning with the 2010/11 season, the young American talent Eugene Tzigane will hold the position of Principal Conductor.
The Worcester Music Festival is the oldest Music Festival in the United States and carries a rich history. Since 1858 it has been pre-eminent in presenting great performances by world-renowned orchestras and guest soloists, chamber music, ballet, world music and dance, jazz and choral masterworks. Music Worcester Inc. has made "a tradition of excellence" its hallmark and has been recognized by the Library of Congress. The organization – originally known as the Worcester County Music Association – has been the presenter of the distinguished Worcester Music Festival since 1858.

This is a twin celebration as Anne Arundel Community College celebrates 50 years and Opera AACC marks its 10th year. Founded by musician Douglas Brandt Byerly as artistic director, Opera AACC provides professional training for young artists and students and quality productions for the community.

The festival will present four performances each of two contrasting American masterpieces, Leonard Bernstein's exuberant musical Wonderful Town and exquisite operetta Mlle Modiste. Both productions will be fully staged, cast with professional singers and actors from the Twin Cities and the Upper Midwest, and accompanied by professional orchestra. Like all Skylark performances, the shows will be sung in English, without electronic amplification, in an intimate venue that draws the audience into the action. Skylark will also offer free pre-performance talks and post-performance talkbacks.
